What if my smoke bomb doesn't work?
Every product is 100% guaranteed. If a smoke bomb is faulty you choose: store credit at 1.5× the unit price (auto-applies at checkout, never expires) or an exact product refund. Note: shipping costs are not refunded for individual product claims — the guarantee covers product cost only. Email hello@shutterbombs.com with subject Guarantee Claim – Order #XXXX + a photo/video. Processed in 1–2 business days.
Are your smoke bombs safe to use around people?
Yes — all Shutter Bombs products use a non-toxic cool-burn formula. The smoke is produced without open flame and burns at low temperatures. CE Approved (EU) and ATF Compliant (US). Use in well-ventilated outdoor spaces and avoid extended inhalation.
How long does the EG25 smoke last?
The EG25 burns for ≈ 25 seconds of dense colored smoke. For photography that's enough time to work the scene. Need longer? The WP40 runs ≈ 90 seconds. Need a quick dense burst? The Twin Vent II dumps its charge in ≈ 25 seconds from both ends.
What's the difference between top-pull and wire-pull?
Top-pull (TP40) is activated by pulling the top cap straight upward — ideal for fast one-handed redeploys. Wire-pull smoke bombs (WP40, WP40-D, Twin Vent II, EG25) activate by pulling a ring away from the body. Both ignition systems produce the same dense smoke; it's purely a preference of activation style.
Will the smoke stain my clothes or skin?
Our cool-burn formula rinses out of most fabrics and off skin with soap and water. To stay clean, keep the can moving, position your subject upwind, and avoid holding dense smoke directly against light-colored clothing for extended periods.
Can I use these indoors?
We strongly recommend outdoor use only. In enclosed spaces, smoke concentrations can build quickly and trigger fire alarms. If you must shoot indoors, ensure full ventilation, disable smoke alarms in advance, and use only one smoke bomb at a time with all windows/doors open.
Why is shipping so expensive?
Smoke bombs are federally classified as hazardous materials, so we are legally required to use a certified hazmat courier (FedEx Hazmat Ground) for every order. We don't control this rate — the carriers do, and we don't profit on shipping. We ship to the contiguous U.S. except Massachusetts. Alaska and Hawaii not currently available.
The best way to offset the cost is to order more in one shipment — orders over $225 ship free.

Official Safety Data Sheets (SDS/PSDS) for every smoke bomb we carry are available on our Safety & Compliance page. These documents include full chemical composition data, handling instructions, and emergency procedures — useful for venue approvals, insurance filings, or event permits.

We don't profit on shipping; we often lose money on it. Anyone shipping smoke bombs cheaper is either absorbing the cost or doing it illegally. Non-compliant shippers risk a $500,000 federal fine for improper hazmat shipping. We prefer to do it right.
